Constitution Plaza

The Salvaterra de Miño Town Hall, designed by the architect José Luis Pereiro, was inaugurated on March 29, 2003. The building, similar to institutional buildings such as the Provincial Government of Pontevedra, follows a traditional architectural style in which simple lines predominate. and austere.

It is a modern construction in which the internal intercom system and the use of external light stand out. In addition, it has waiting rooms in most departments for the convenience of citizens and users.

The handrail of the main staircase deserves special mention, whose peculiar decorative detail is reminiscent of vine vines, as well as the mural found in the Plenary Hall, the work of the artist from Puskas, from Monça, illustrating the different episodes in Salvaterra's history.

Elements that make up our shield
  1. The sky, represented in blue.
  2. Mountains in sashes, represented in the natural area where the river is born. That they are arranged in strips means that it is an element that cuts the shield horizontally, its width being one third of the total.
  3. The river, also in blue in moving stick. The stick is the piece that divides the shield into two parts. Movente means that an element that comes out of an angle, point or flanks of the shield. The river goes towards its mouth.
  4. On the right side, a fort made of hammered silver (represents the stone joints), terraced (elements of the roof) and donxonada (the one above the largest tower refers to one of smaller size). The doors and windows are represented in a different color, in sable.
  5. On the left side there is another hammered and terraced silver fort.
  6. Presiding over the whole complex, a closed royal crown.

The two forts represented refer to the Salvaterra and Monçao squares, which as we know are separated by the course of the Miño River.
