Salvaterra de Miño, capital of the Condado do Tea region, due to its link with the Miño and Tea rivers, has a wide variety of fish resources such as trout, shad, salmon, elvers, eels and reo.

However, the lamprey is crowned as the "water vampire" or "the queen of the river", known, also popularly. The lamprey is one of the first vertebrates of which there is evidence on earth and has lived in Galician rivers for more than five hundred million years.

Currently, there are three Galician rivers in which we can find this cyclostome: the Tambre river, the Ulla river and the Miño river.

This exquisite delicacy makes Salvaterra de Miño, and by extension the entire Condado do Tea region, a must-see for lovers of good food. The most typical and traditional way of cooking it is "a la Bordeaux", in this case the lamprey is stewed in its own blood and accompanied with white rice.

However, it also supports other culinary modalities such as grilled lamprey, stewed with noodles and mangetout, or stuffed. In addition, it is also very common to find in this area the “lamprey empanada” or to taste the “lamprey with Russian salad”.

The Lamprey Route in Galicia offers the opportunity to get to know this unique species. Likewise, in the neighboring municipality of Arbo, the Dry Lamprey Festival is held in August, and in the month of April, the Lamprey Festival, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

In addition, the five rivers that cross the municipality of Salvaterra, among which the Miño and Tea rivers stand out, give the territory, and consequently its wines, its own identity by providing its soils with a great wealth of minerals and aromatic and sapid components.

Not in vain, the perfectly identifiable white and red wines of the County, the famous Albariño or the delicious sparkling wines are obtained from the lands of this municipality, all wines protected under the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas.

Wines are, in this sub-area of the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin, a motivational factor for a tourist visit and a good prop within the municipality's economy. The weight of wine in the family economy, the quality of its wines and the great extension of vineyards, make Salvaterra de Miño the "Wine Capital" of the Condado do Tea region.

Finally, on this gastronomic tour of the region, we cannot forget the delicious lamb or beef meats of the area prepared in a variety of ways, as well as the pancakes filled with cream, cream, honey, or the nipple with quince jelly. as a homemade dessert option. After dinner, of course, always accompanied by the exquisite liqueurs of the region: white brandy, herbs or brown liquor.
