Parish of "FORNELOS"
It is one of the flattest and most inhabited parishes in the municipality. Its territory is crossed by the Tea river and almost all its geography is an extensive fertile plain dedicated to agriculture.

At the end of the 12th century, the monarch Fernando IV of Castilla issued a privilege in Zamora, in which he granted the dominion of this parish to Vasco Ozores, lord of Teáns. During a part of the history the neighborhoods of the parish were divided between several jurisdictional lords: the Count of Salvaterra, Casa de Teáns, etc.

Likewise, it should be noted that during the liberal triennium it was planned to form a town hall in this parish within the judicial district of Ponteareas.

In the first decades of the 20th century, the agrarian movement had a notable force in this parish, with a society of farmers that had the support in Buenos Aires since 1919 of "Sons of Fornelos and annexes" and with the Catholic Agrarian Union of Fornelos, promoter of various cooperative activities.

The Tea River runs through the parish of Fornelos, separating it from Nogueira. At the beginning of the 20th century, these auxiliary societies of the two parishes in Buenos Aires tried to build a bridge in Ceña (Rañe) in order to unite them. The work never ended, although until recently the pillars were preserved.

One of the most outstanding names in this parish is the "master of architecture" Domingo Rodríguez de Pazos (or Domingo de Fornelos). He is the author of numerous artistic works in the diocese of Tudense during the Baroque. Worthy of mention are the Drawer of the Sacristy of the Tui Cathedral, the seats of its Chapter Hall, the altarpiece of San Pedro and, above all, the magnificent organ boxes of the Cathedral of Tui.

Rogelio Estévez Camba (1866-1939) was an outstanding thinker born in Fornelos and emigrated to Argentina, he collaborated with different publications such as Vida Gallega de Vigo and others in Argentina. He defended, in his writings, the need to modernize Galicia and improve the training of its people.
